# How to Send Photos to Dallas County Jail

> How to send photos to Dallas County Jail: the Sheriff's mail processing address, book-in number, photo size and Polaroid rules, and tips to avoid returns.

Published October 10, 2026 in Mail & Facility Rules

To send photos to someone in the Dallas County Jail, address them to the person's name and book-in number, c/o Mail Processing Center, P.O. Box 9226, Seminole, FL 33775-9226. That's the address the Dallas County Sheriff's Office gives for inmate mail, and it's in Florida, not at the jail in Dallas.

The Sheriff's Office also has firm rules about what can be in the envelope: no Polaroids, nothing larger than 8x10, and nothing glued or stuck on. Here's how to send photos to your loved one in Dallas County and avoid having them come back.

## Mailing address for photos

The Dallas County Sheriff's Office [inmate mail page](https://www.dallascounty.org/departments/sheriff/inmate-mail) says proper addressing is very important and gives this format:

```
[Full name] #[Book-in Number]
C/O MAIL PROCESSING CENTER
PO BOX 9226
SEMINOLE FL 33775-9226
```

The Sheriff's own example puts the book-in number right after the name with a # sign in front of it. Add your own full name and return address too. The Sheriff's Office says mail isn't forwarded once someone has been released; it's returned to the sender or goes to the Post Office's dead letter department, so include a return address so it can come back to you.

The Sheriff's Office notes that anything sent to the Seminole P.O. box is **not confidential**. Attorneys have a separate address for legal mail, but family mail and photos go to Seminole.

Dallas County runs several jail towers downtown, and we have pages for each:

- [North Tower Detention Facility](https://inmatepics.com/facilities/texas/north-tower-detention-facility)
- [South Tower Detention Facility](https://inmatepics.com/facilities/texas/south-tower-detention-facility)
- [West Tower Detention Facility](https://inmatepics.com/facilities/texas/west-tower-detention-facility)

The Sheriff's Office lists one mailing address for inmate mail, so you don't need to know which tower your loved one is in to address the envelope.

## The ID number you need

Dallas County uses a **book-in number** (also called a booking number) for each person in the jail. It goes on the first line of the address, after the person's name. The Sheriff's Office also asks for the name and booking number when you put money on someone's account, so it's worth writing down once you have it.

To find it, use the Dallas County [Inmate Look Up](https://www.dallascounty.org/jaillookup/search.jsp) search. A new arrest means a new book-in number, so look it up again if your loved one has been released and booked again. ## Photo rules

The Sheriff's inmate mail page lists items that are prohibited from being received through the mail. For photos, these are the ones to know:

- **No photographs larger than 8x10.**
- **No Polaroid photographs.**
- **No photos depicting obscenity, violence or pornography, or of a sexually enticing nature.**
- **Nothing with a glued surface or backing,** and no glue, stickers, tape, plastic, ribbon, metal or other attachments.

Other rules on the list affect the whole envelope:

- **No profanity on the envelope.**
- **No stains or unidentifiable marks.**
- **No writing or drawing in crayon, marker or colored pencil.**
- **Letters must be one-sided.** The Sheriff's Office says only one-sided letters will be scanned and two-sided letters are returned.
- **No stamps, blank paper, envelopes, pens or stationery.**

The list says these are examples and not the only items that can be refused. Keep photos simple, clear and family-friendly.

We print every photo as a standard **4x6** and pack **up to 10 per envelope**.

## What your loved one receives

Mail for the Dallas County Jail goes to an off-site mail processing center first, and the Sheriff's Office says letters are scanned. Its page doesn't spell out exactly how scanned photos are delivered to the person, so we haven't confirmed whether your loved one receives the prints or a scanned copy.

We'll keep our facility pages current, and before you pay, our checkout shows what the person will receive at the facility you choose. Our post on [prison mail scanning](https://inmatepics.com/blog/prison-mail-scanning-explained) explains the difference between originals, copies and tablet scans.

## Step by step

1. **Look up the book-in number** with the Dallas County Inmate Look Up.
2. **Choose your photos.** Pick clear pictures without violence, suggestive poses or anything that could be read as obscene.
3. **Print them as real photo prints** no larger than 8x10. Standard 4x6 prints work well. No Polaroids.
4. **Keep the envelope clean.** No stickers, tape, marker or profanity, and no extra stationery or stamps.
5. **Address it to the Seminole, Florida mail processing center** with the person's name and book-in number, plus your return address.
6. **Or let InmatePics handle it.** [Start an order](https://inmatepics.com/send), choose the Dallas County facility, enter the book-in number, and we print real 4x6 photos and mail them addressed the way the facility requires.

## Tips to avoid returned mail

- **Use the Seminole address, not the jail's street address.** It's the address the Sheriff's Office gives for inmate mail.
- **Use the # and the book-in number** right after the name, as in the Sheriff's example.
- **Skip anything glued or attached.** Photos with adhesive backing or stickers are on the prohibited list.
- **Write letters on one side only** if you include one. Two-sided letters are returned.
- **Check custody first.** Mail isn't forwarded after release, so confirm your loved one is still in the jail before you send.
