These terms apply when you use inmatepics.com and our services ("InmatePics", "we", "us"). By placing an order or creating an account, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
What we do
InmatePics prints the photos you upload as 4x6 photo prints and mails them to a person held in a prison, jail, immigration detention center or other facility you choose. We address and package each order according to the facility's published mail rules, and we tell you before you pay what the facility does with photo mail (for example, whether it delivers the prints or a copy).
We are not affiliated with any correctional agency, facility, or government body. Each facility decides for itself what mail it accepts, and it may change its rules at any time.
Who can use InmatePics
You must be 18 or older and able to enter a binding agreement. You may only send mail you are allowed to send. In particular, you must not use InmatePics:
- to contact anyone a court order, protective order or facility rule forbids you to contact;
- to send to a youth facility unless you are allowed contact with that young person (for example, a parent, guardian or someone on their approved list);
- to harass, threaten or intimidate anyone, or to send anything illegal;
- to try to get contraband, coded messages or banned content into a facility.
We may refuse, hold or cancel an order we believe breaks these terms, and we may close accounts that misuse the service.
Your photos
You keep all rights to the photos you upload. You give us permission to store, process, print and mail them only to fulfil your order and to provide support for it. You confirm that you have the right to send the photos and that, as far as you know, they don't show anything the facility bans. We may decline to print a photo we believe would be rejected or is unlawful.
Your information
You agree to give accurate details for yourself and the person you're sending to. Facilities can ask who sent a piece of mail, so we keep your name and address with every order. Depending on how your order is sent, the envelope shows either your name and address or our printing partner's as the return address. How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown before you pay: $0.99 per 4x6 print plus $4.99 per envelope mailed. Some facilities limit how many photos fit in one envelope or one day, so larger orders can need more than one envelope; the number of envelopes and the total are shown at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe. We don't see or store your full card number.
Delivery
We mail your order after payment, spreading envelopes over several days if the facility's daily limit requires it. Delivery times depend on the postal service and on the facility's mailroom, which we don't control. Some facilities process incoming mail through a central or outside mail center before it reaches the person.
Refunds
Our Refund Policy ("Delivered or refunded") is part of these terms.
Accounts
When you check out, we create an account for your email address so you can see your orders. Keep your sign-in details secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
Facility information
We work hard to keep facility addresses, ID number formats and mail rules accurate, and we cite our sources where we can. Facilities change their rules without notice, so this information is provided as guidance and may not always be current. Our Refund Policy covers mail a facility returns or rejects, as described there.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, InmatePics is provided "as is", and our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made by a facility, agency or postal service. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be limited by agreement.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force when you place an order applies to that order. We'll show the date of the latest change at the top of this page.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which you live, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
